Are YOU our magical new motion designer?

Are you our magical new motion designer?

We’re looking for a new wizard to join our team!

When we started our studio, we set out to create truly inspiring content – helping marketers bring their brand stories to life through the magic of animation. Our mission is to help brands become impossible to ignore.

We want to inspire, connect and captivate the world with storytelling.

To do this, we’ve handpicked our team and we think we’ve got the best in the business. From talented wordsmiths, time and organisational wizards, brand experts and of course, amazing animators that bring everything to life. In 2023 we’ve got big plans, and we need a dash of additional motion magic to add to the mix so we can deliver even more value for our clients across the globe.

Could it be you?

We’ve got a magical studio right in the middle of beautiful Abergavenny, with plenty of parking, space and glorious views. We’re a close-knit team and culture is at the heart of everything we do, so being studio based is non-negotiable.

Who will I be reporting to?

Jessica Morgan (chief Wizard), co-founder David Morgan (bearded wizard!), our Account Manager Becky (time wizard) and Lead Animator, Gareth.

How long for?

A full-time contract with a six-month probation period; this includes the usual, 35 hours a week. We like to be flexible though so we can have a chat about what that looks like for you.

Show me the money

We are extremely aware that we’ve not specified a skill level for this position, which is why we haven’t put a number on the page as yet. We’re very open to the conversation once we find out if we’re a good fit. It would be useful to know what your salary expectations are initially. Starting £22-£28 depending on experience.

That all sounds great, what will I be doing?

Great question there amigo! We had a pretty epic 2020 and 2021, despite the challenges and grew the team to a team of 11 and we’re set to continue this growth during 2023. We’ve had a great deal of demand for animated video so we need another animator to join us and help them deliver spellbinding animations that delight and engage.

We work with organisations all over the globe and we specialise in animated explainer videos.

Please check out our website to see some examples of the kinds of projects we work on and to see if it’s something you’d be excited to be a part of.

You’ll be working closely with Jess, our in-house copywriter who develops our scripts, at which point, you’ll take over to develop an initial storyboard & concept art for review by the team and the client. You’d need to be comfortable working from a script, working with the designer’s brand guides and styles and bringing the story to life. You’ll also need to be comfortable working with voiceover and music tracks and bringing it all together in one final composition for publishing on screen.

Don’t be put off by the styles we’ve adopted in our existing videos, we’re very much open to bringing on board different styles and approaches and you might be just what we need to diversify. Variety is the spice of life after all! In fact, it’s one of our unique selling points, every one of our animators has a distinctive style and we want to add more variety to our team.

Can I move up in the business?

If we find the right person to join our team and they do their part, we will be on the road to a bigger, more successful, more profitable business! #Winning. When we get there, part of the reason would be down to you, so yes, absolutely. We’ll check in with you along the way and see if we’re going in the right direction.

What personal attributes and qualifications are we looking for?

Let’s start with the essentials…

An After Effects Superstar, knowledge of the rest of Adobe’s suite is handy too, especially illustrator & photoshop.

A good working knowledge of animation and the ability to use the 12 principles of animation (and know when to break those rules).

A great understanding of graphic design, colour theory & typography (mixed with an excellent sense of timing are pretty essential.)

High-level creative thinking and the confidence to use it

A positive mindset (sometimes things get stressful, but the ability to find solutions rather than dwell on the problem is golden)

Illustration skills (sounds obvious but you’ll be working from initial storyboards all the way through to the finished video so this is a must)

The confidence to share and present ideas internally and to clients

Motivation and the desire to execute every job to the highest standard

Punctuality (It’s just good manners)

The ability to deliver on time and work to a schedule

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (definitely a must)

Be organised and deliberate at logging tasks and recording

Be honest (it’s so important as a team to have trust in each other)

Willingness to learn new skills independently or within the work environment Ego-free (just thought we’d get that out there sooner rather than later. We’re all about the team and there’s no room for giant heads in our office (we have oldy worldy beams)

Oh, and you must love dogs. (Because there may be one occasionally sleeping under your desk)
